Giant robots, which are frequently featured in Japanese anime and manga, have finally come to life. Of course, we don’t have a giant robot as in anime and movie series. A Japanese startup called Tsubame Industries has developed a rideable robot with a length of 4.5 meters. The robot, named Archax, is jaw-dropping with its price.
Transformers-like robot for the rich: Archax
Archax is not the first giant robot of its kind. Previously, two entrepreneurial groups in the US and Japan had developed and fought giant robots. However, this time we have a very well-equipped riding robot.
The Archax robot price is 400 million Japanese Yen, that is, approximately 2.7 million dollars at today’s exchange rate. If we look at the Turkish currency value, it has a jaw-dropping price of about 74 billion TL.
Archax, a million-dollar robot with a Transformers-like structure, can travel at a speed of 10 km. To achieve this speed, the robot bends downward in an almost horizontal position and spreads its legs, just like Transformers. The user can get into the cockpit part of the robot by opening the head. For this, there is a ladder in front.
The robot’s arms and hands and fingers also move. In this sense, the million-dollar robot Archax is the first giant robot with such a complicated anatomy. Again, the robot’s head can turn left and right.
In the cockpit part of the robot, there are four screens and joysticks for it to move. On these four screens, it is possible to see four camera images on the front, back and sides of the robot’s head. Archax is 4.5 meters tall and weighs 3.5 tons.
Tsubame introduced the giant Archax robot this summer. However, the robot will make its public debut at the Japan Mobility Fair between October 26 and November 5.
In fact, the million-dollar robot was inspired by the legendary Japanese anime series Mobile Suit Gundam rather than Transformers. The series featured building-sized robots and their drivers. Although Archax is not that big, it makes the Japanese dream of a big robot come true.
